about

Storm Pond Bird is a historical icon in the San Francisco music scene as it originated in 1984 in the popular band/theatre group Elbows Akimbo, then was re-born in the 90’s with the group Beasts of Paradise, and finally emerged with new vocals, lyrics and rhythms with Bindi Society. Basically, the harp arrangement is the continuous thread, along with the title.

lyrics

Inside water, waterwheel turning
Stars circling the moon
Those who live in the shadow of nightfall
Those who ride upon the winds

I watch you circle around and around
A Thousand secrets in your flight
With eyes that see the enormity of things
Sound shadows falling from light

Storm pond bird
Flying high and far
Your strong wings carry you
Through the turning night of stars

You fly as the earth turns, resting on the sun
A prayer flies upon your wings
In the still of the night you are lifted into light
Disappearing like the air

You are the silence thought and the vine
Turning night into day
Your wings enfold all the branches of the tree
You are the lift and the falling away

Storm pond bird
Flying high and far
Your strong wings carry you
Through the turning night of stars
